PARK RIDGE, N.J., Sept. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hertz Corporation (NYSE: HTZ) announced today the expansion of its Hertz On Demand (www.HertzOnDemand.com) University program to Oklahoma State University with the introduction of an all-Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fleet. Initially, Hertz On Demand will offer students, faculty, staff and the neighboring community access to two Honda Civic GX sedans, with eventual plans to expand. The vehicles are the first CNG cars in Hertz On Demand's fleet. CNG produces nearly zero emissions and is an economical alternative to gasoline or diesel.(1)

"Personal use of natural gas vehicles is rapidly growing and as the leading provider of mobility solutions, Hertz is in a unique position to introduce this technology to the next generation of drivers," said Mark P. Frissora, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Hertz Corporation. "From energy-efficient vehicles to those that use alternative fuel sources, we are committed to providing a full spectrum of vehicle options across our fleet and with CNG vehicles that are entirely clean and abundant, we are able to do that."
Oklahoma State University will be the first location to receive CNG vehicles as part of Hertz On Demand's general consumer rental fleet. Hertz deploys CNG airport buses at its Los Angeles International Airport location and has plans to build a CNG fueling station there. Hertz also rents CNG vehicles in both Italy and the United Kingdom. In addition, Hertz On Demand currently offers electric vehicles (EV) in major markets across the United States, including New York City, Washington, D.C., and Arizona.
As of this fall, Hertz On Demand will have a presence on more than 60 University campuses across the U.S., providing an economical, convenient and socially-conscious alternative to car ownership. The service operates on a pay-as-you-go system, providing members with 24/7 access to vehicles strategically located throughout their city. Hertz On Demand offers its members products and services that are unmatched in the car sharing industry, including:
- No membership and renewal fees in the U.S. and Europe. The company has also introduced membership kiosks in New York City, enabling customers to join free of charge and immediately enjoy Hertz on Demand car sharing experience.
