Heroku Selects Splunk to Monitor Its Cloud Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)
Leading Cloud-based Development Platform Uses Splunk to Monitor and Analyze Performance
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Splunk today announced that Heroku, a leading cloud platform-as-a-service (PaaS) provider, is using Splunk to help manage, monitor and troubleshoot its infrastructure.
Heroku is a cloud application PaaS for Ruby deployment, offering a new way to build and deploy web apps. Heroku's service lets developers spend 100 percent of their time on their application code versus managing servers, deployment, ongoing operations, or dealing with scalability. The company has emerged as an influential and fast-moving company in the hosted application space. Developers worldwide have deployed more than 75,000 applications using the Heroku platform. Notable customers include Best Buy, Shopify and FlightCaster.
"We see Splunk as a key technology to delivering an always-on, Heroku platform," said Oren Teich, vice president of product, Heroku. "Splunk has helped us gain insight into both our ongoing operations as well as better visibility into our business analytics. Splunk has quickly become a favorite tool for everyone from our support engineers to our marketing team."
"Our work with Heroku is a terrific example of Splunk's role in the delivery of mission-critical infrastructure, whether it's on-premise or in the cloud," said Steve Sommer, vice president of worldwide marketing, Splunk. "By monitoring Heroku's PaaS infrastructure, we continue to expand our knowledge of our customers' cloud-related issues. This operational visibility from Splunk helps Heroku extend its value to its community even further, enabling developers to focus on the development of cool and useful applications."
After implementing Splunk, Heroku was able to immediately improve its ability to trace operational transactions through its platform. Heroku was able to use this data to optimize transaction error response message pathing for quicker recovery and better customer understanding.
