Herman Miller-Nemschoff and EarlySense Partner to Provide Advanced Health Monitoring Chairs
Co-marketing Agreement Offers Chairs that are Pre-enabled to adapt to EarlySense's Contact-Free Monitoring Technology
WALTHAM, Mass., Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- EarlySense®, the market leader in contact-free, health sensing and analytics, together with Herman Miller-Nemschoff, a leading healthcare furniture company, announced today that they have entered into a co-marketing agreement. The partnership will allow customers to acquire Herman Miller chairs that are pre-enabled to accept EarlySense contact-free sensor-based monitoring.
There will be a number of chair models which will be available to accept the EarlySense technology. Once enabled, the chairs will allow caregivers the ability to monitor patient's Heart and Respiratory Rates, status in the chair (in or out) and motion for things like a chair exit alert. Early user feedback suggests that the combination of innovative chairs with embedded sensors attached to a monitoring platform is particularly useful in areas where therapy is delivered, such as infusion therapy centers, and dialysis treatment areas.
"EarlySense is very excited about this co-marketing agreement with Herman Miller-Nemschoff to enhance the ability of caregivers to monitor patients continuously in a non-contact manner, while patients are receiving critical therapy," said Tim O'Malley, President of EarlySense. "Our technology has substantial and growing evidence regarding the impact that continuous, non-contact monitoring is having on avoiding adverse events. We believe that expanding into clinical environments where monitoring has not historically been possible due to technological limitations will continue to build evidence around the benefit this combined technology will bring to patient care and outcomes."
"We're excited to find a new technology that can improve the healthcare experience in so many ways," said Louise McDonald, President, Herman Miller Healthcare and Nemschoff. "Whether you're a patient or a caregiver, using a Nemschoff chair equipped with EarlySense will benefit you."
Joel Van Wyk, Nemschoff Director of Product Development, Healthcare, added, "The beautiful thing about this technology is that it's invisible from the patient's point of view. We strive to give our furniture an inviting, hospitality-style aesthetic, and while EarlySense has advanced clinical capabilities, it doesn't diminish the comfort, style, or durability of our seating. It's the best of both worlds."
EarlySense is showcasing its contact-free continuous patient monitoring technology at MEDICA, the world's largest event for the medical sector, taking place this week in Germany. Visit EarlySense's booth in the Israel National Pavilion – Hall 16 – Stand G40. The solution is also being presented at Herman Miller-Nemschoff's Booth #901 at the Healthcare Design Expo & Conference, taking place in Washington, D.C. Nov. 13-17.
EarlySense has partnered with a number of companies over the past several months, including Welch Allyn, Samsung, Beurer, Icon Fitness and Mitsui in Japan. These partnerships are allowing for EarlySense technology to be applied in a variety of clinical and wellness settings.
