Herman Miller Asks College Students, 'Where's Your Hub?'
Company Sponsors Second Annual Student Video Contest in Researching Students' Preferred Environments
ZEELAND, Mich., Jan. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Herman Miller, Inc. is launching its second annual video contest targeting full-time students attending 2-or 4-year U.S. and Canadian colleges and universities. The company once again is asking students to document their response to a single question. This year's question is "Where's Your Hub?"
Hubs are everywhere on campus. They're the places where people come together to connect, recharge, study, and socialize. They often support informal learning and collaboration and are becoming increasingly rich in technology.
"Research tells us that more learning takes place outside the classroom than inside it. We want to hear from today's students about their hub," says Jeff Vredevoogd, director of Herman Miller's Education team.
"The voice of the student is becoming more important in the design of campus spaces. We're looking forward to hearing from students, the primary users of campus hub spaces, about where their hubs are, how they use them, and how higher education facilities can better respond to their needs," he adds.
Contest entries are due before midnight on March 25, 2011. Representatives from the company will select three finalists whose submissions best represent creativity, originality, and appropriateness to the theme. First prize will be a $2500 Visa gift card, second prize will be a $1500 Visa gift card, and third prize will be a $1000 Visa gift card.
