HOUSTON, July 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Herbalife Nutrition Foundation (HNF), a U.S. 501(c)3 non-profit corporation dedicated to improving children's lives, today awarded a $50,000 grant to Casa de Esperanza, a nonprofit shelter for abused children. Herbalife Nutrition CEO, Rich Goudis, joined sponsored professional triathlete, Heather Jackson, as well as Company nutrition and fitness experts on a tour of the Casa. During their visit, the group participated in fitness and sports activities with the kids, and talked with them about nutrition habits and how to ensure they're being healthy and active.
"The Herbalife Nutrition Foundation is honored to provide Casa de Esperanza with a grant focused on nutrition and fitness education, with the goal of helping these children, who have been through so much, live healthier and happier lives," said Rich Goudis, CEO, Herbalife Nutrition. "This grant reflects our belief that a supportive community is key to helping everyone fulfill their greatest potential."
Serving over 85 children ranging in age from newborns to five-year-olds, Casa de Esperanza is a safe place for those suffering from abuse, neglect or the effects of HIV. HNF's grant will provide healthy food choices for children in the organization's residential program, helping to further the Casa's mission to provide housing, food and medical care.
"We are honored to receive such generous financial and hands-on support from the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation," said Kathy Foster, founder of Casa de Esperanza. "Our mission is to break the destructive cycle of child abuse by providing comprehensive residential and family support programs that transform people and communities, and this grant will help us reach that goal."
HNF's Casa Herbalife Program was established in 2005 to bring good nutrition to children living in orphanages or using after-school centers and other non-profit facilities around the world tasked with helping underserved young people. The Program currently serves more than 100,000 children at over 130 organizations in more than 50 countries and continues to expand in 2018, with the addition of three new Casa Herbalife partners in Austria, Switzerland and Ghana.
