Her Excellency Mrs. Samira Bawumia, Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, to Keynote at Philadelphia Women's Global Empowerment Event
PHILADELPHIA, March 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- On March 10, 2018, at 8.30 p.m., at Imhotep Institute Charter High School, 6201 N 21st Street, Her Excellency Mrs. Samira Bawumia, Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, will deliver keynote remarks to more than 300 local business, civic, religious and political leaders, as well as members of Philadelphia's Community, at the U.S.-Ghana Chamber of Commerce's Global Women's Empowerment in Business event.
Mrs. Bawumia, the wife of Ghana's Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has read BA Social Science in Law and Sociology at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and was named the Best Student in Master of Business Administration for Project Management, at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
Her Excellency speaks five languages fluently and is the mother of four children.
Mrs. Bawumia's remarks will precede a panel presentation whose participants include Hon. Lisette Shirdan-Harris, a Philadelphia Common Pleas Court judge and a board member of the International Association of Women's Judges, Ms. Roberta Torian, an Attorney and a Partner at the Law firm of Reed Smith and Dr. Mamie Mante, CEO, Wynnewood Smiles. The panel presentation will be moderated by attorney, journalist and business owner Renee Chenault Fattah.
Other dignitaries in attendance will be: His Excellency Dr. Barfour Adjei Barwuah, Ghanaian Ambassador to the U.S.; and Stella Amos Ansah, Minister of Trade, Ghana Embassy, in Washington, D.C. and other high level government officials
In addition to her participation during the Women's Empowerment Event, the Second Lady's itinerary includes a meeting with Philadelphia City Council female elected officials, 11.30 a.m., on March 13th, at Philadelphia City Hall. She will also deliver a major address on: "Driving Economic Change in Africa in the 21st Century: Ghana at the Fore Front" at the University of Pennsylvania's Claire M Fagin Hall, at 10 a.m., on Monday, March 12th; hold meeting at a mosque on in the evening
