BAYONNE, N.J., March 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Henry Repeating Arms donated Serial Number BTHIF00001 of their New Iron Framed Original Henry Rifle to be auctioned at the National NRA Foundation Banquet and Auction on April 9, 2015 in Nashville, TN. The auction will benefit The NRA Foundation, America's leading charitable organization in support of the organizations and programs that ensure the legacy of hunting and shooting sports. Bidding is live online at GunBroker.com, item 473541109. To bid, visit www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=473541109 or contact the NRA's special events coordinator Nichole McMahon at (703) 267-1342. Auction ends 4/12/15, the last day of the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits.
Last year's auction of the set of Serial #1 of the New Original Henry and an Original Henry from 1865 yielded $100,000 for the NRA Foundation. "Henry continues to raise the bar with a one-of-a-kind donation to the National NRA Foundation Banquet and Auction. This donation of the first produced Henry Iron Frame is just one of many ways Henry has shown support for the Foundation's fundraising efforts. We are thankful for their generosity," said Sarah Engeset, NRA's Director of Volunteer Fundraising.
With only 13,000 total Henry rifles in brass and iron produced from 1860-1866, the Iron Frames are the rarest of the rare. Approximately 200 iron-framed Henry rifles were produced in the original plant under the supervision of its inventor Benjamin Tyler Henry. This new rifle offers collectors and shooters an opportunity to own a classic design in a very rare version.
"Henry Repeating Arms will stay in the foxhole with the NRA to fight alongside them in their battle to protect our 2nd Amendment rights, promote firearm safety and support youth shooting sports programs. Our donation of the new Iron Frame Henry Serial Number #1 is a symbol of our commitment," said Anthony Imperato, President of Henry Repeating Arms.
The New Iron Framed Original Henry Rifle is actually thoroughly modern steel. The .44-40 caliber features the full 24-inch octagonal barrel of B.T.Henry's 1860 rifle with integral tube magazine and 13-round capacity; brass magazine follower; a case-colored frame and crescent buttplate; oil-finished fancy American walnut stock; highly polished blued barrel, lever, trigger and hammer; a blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight. The overall length is 43 inches and it weighs 9 pounds empty.
The auction will kick off the 2015 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits. Learn more about the event at http://www.nraam.org/special-events/national-nra-foundation-banquet.aspx.
