Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital: Ranked Top 5 Percent in U.S. for Quality
WYANDOTTE, Mich., Oct. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital received a 2014 Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence Award by a national consumer organization.
The hospital was one of 260 hospitals out of more than 4,500 hospitals evaluated nationwide to receive this award, making Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital in the top five percent of all hospitals in the country.
It was also the only hospital in Wayne County to receive the honor according to Healthgrades, an online consumer resource for comprehensive information about hospitals and doctors. In addition, it is the 3rd year in a row the hospital has been the recipient of the award.
According to Healthgrades, this award means that "patients are significantly less likely to die or experience complications while undergoing treatment for any of several common procedures and conditions compared to the majority of American hospitals."
According to Healthgrades potentially more than 150,000 lives from 2010 to 2012 could have been saved if American hospitals performed at the same level as Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital.
"I am honored that Henry Ford Wyandotte has received this recognition," says Denise Brooks-Williams, president and CEO of the hospital. "This is the result of the hard work and dedication to clinical quality and excellence by our committed team of caregivers including physicians and nurses."
The medical areas in which Henry Ford Wyandotte was recognized for high quality are:
- Cardiac
- Vascular
- Orthopedics
- Neurosciences
- Critical Care

Healthgrades evaluates hospitals solely on clinical outcomes—risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications based on 40 million Medicare discharges for the most recent three-year time period available. The data measures 31 common procedures and conditions and adjusts for each patient's age, gender, and medical condition.
