Hennion & Walsh Raises $35,000 at the 7th Annual Silk City Charity Boxing Event
PARSIPPANY, N.J., March 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Hennion & Walsh, one of the nation's premier providers of investment services and an advocate for individual investors, orchestrated another successful Silk City Charity Boxing Event on Monday, March 2, 2015. The event, in its seventh year, was held at The Brownstone House in Paterson, NJ and raised over $35,000 for various local charities.

The Silk City Charity Boxing Event is sanctioned by USA Boxing, the national governing body for Olympic-style boxing in the United States and a member organization of the United States Olympic Committee. USA Boxing boasts more than 40,000 members across the country, including athletes, coaches, officials, physicians and administrators. Over 400 people attended this year's event which featured a number of competitive amateur boxing matches in addition to a spectacular sports memorabilia silent auction. In addition to the 80 Hennion & Walsh employees that participated, several noteworthy athletes were also there to lend their support including Super Bowl Champions, Otis "OJ" Anderson and Plaxico Burress and three-time World Boxing Champion, Bobby Czyz. Past attendees have included former boxers, Chuck Wepner, Eddy Cotton and Danny Milano; and NFL players, Mike Adams, Brandon Jacobs and Greg Olsen.
The funds raised at this year's event will benefit The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, a Catholic Church founded in 1820 in Paterson, NJ; St. Joseph's Home for Boys, a shelter for homeless boys in Totowa, NJ; and The Do-Good House, an organization that provides scholarships to deserving students in and around the Greater Paterson area.
