PARSIPPANY, N.J., March 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Hennion & Walsh, a provider of investment services and advocate for individual investors, orchestrated another successful Silk City Charity Boxing Event on Monday, February 29, 2016. The event, in its eighth year, was held at The Brownstone House in Paterson, NJ.
Over the course of the last eight years, the Silk City Charity Boxing Event has raised more than $250,000 for the following charities:
"We started this as a fun way to raise money for these boys through beefsteak and boxing," said Rich Hennion, Partner and Co-Founder of Hennion & Walsh. "We are so proud of what we've been able to accomplish through this sold-out event."
Over 400 people attended this year's event which featured thirteen competitive amateur boxing matches. Guests were treated to the Passaic County Police & Fire Bag Pipers, as well as voice and instrument renditions of the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America. A silent auction run by MC Sports Collectibles, as well as a five course meal, including the Brownstone's famous filet mignon beefsteak, rounded out the evening.
"Before the night is over, attendees ask if they can reserve tickets for next year's event already," added Bill Walsh, President and Co-Founder of Hennion & Walsh. "That not only tells us that they enjoy the event, but that they look forward to supporting it in the years ahead."
Several noteworthy athletes were there to lend their support as well, including Super Bowl Champions, Otis "OJ" Anderson and Plaxico Burress, boxing legend Chuck "The Bayonne Bleeder" Wepner, and three-time World Boxing Champion, Bobby Czyz.
The Silk City Charity Boxing Event is sanctioned by USA Boxing, the national governing body for Olympic-style boxing in the United States and a member organization of the United States Olympic Committee.
