MINNEAPOLIS, July 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Atomic Data (www.AtomicData.com), ranked as one of the fastest growing inner city businesses in the U.S. by Fortune Magazine, announced today that Hennepin County, Minnesota has selected Atomic Data's private cloud to host its content management system and search engine solution. The hosting agreement will soon extend to more than a dozen public facing websites as well, including Hennepin.us and HCLib.org.
With 1.2 million residents, Hennepin County is the 33rd largest county in the U.S. Their public facing website, Hennepin.us, hosts a quarter million visits each month. Online services offered by Hennepin County include property information search, job postings, park and construction maps, pothole reporting tools, campaign finance and reporting databases, volunteer opportunities, an A-Z Guide for household waste and recycling and much more. The Hennepin County Library system (www.HCLib.org), recognized as one of the top libraries in the United States, hosted a staggering 21 million visits to its website in 2011. And thanks to the rapid adoption of e-book readers, tablets, and smart phones, library card holders increased their downloads of books, movies, and music by 64% year over year, for a total of 750,000 downloads.
Commenting on the agreement, Atomic Data CEO Jim Wolford said, "We've been building private clouds for our clients since before it was a buzz word. Our infrastructure is perfectly suited for organizations that are looking for a cloud solution, but aren't willing to give up control to the public cloud providers. As a resident of Hennepin County, all of us at Atomic Data look forward to helping them secure their infrastructure as well as the services that so many people rely on."
