Hemp, Inc. CEO Bruce Perlowin to Speak at Informal Symposium with Industrial Hemp and Medical Marijuana Industry Leaders
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Hemp, Inc., (OTC: HEMP) a leader in the industrial hemp industry, announced today that Bruce Perlowin, its CEO, will be speaking and interacting with prominent leaders in the industry November 20-21, 2013 in Denver, Colorado.
The informal symposium is scheduled to follow the 20th Annual Hemp Industries Association (HIA) Conference which convened November 17-18, 2013 in Washington, DC. The HIA, which is the longest standing hemp activist group in America, engages in hemp research, farming, processing, product development, manufacturing, distribution, marketing and education.
Tony Budden, co-owner of Hemporium and a South African materials expert and advocate of growing hemp, also attended the HIA conference and will share insight from that conference at the informal symposium in Denver. Budden's company, Hemporium, is a South African hemp company, founded in 1996. "We aim to educate people about hemp's potential through the use of innovative products while creating an awareness of all that hemp has to offer," according to Hemporium's website. Their long term goal is to promote the cultivation and use of industrial hemp as a sustainable crop in South Africa.
Also joining Perlowin and sharing insight from the HIA Conference is Ryan Loflin, who many know as the first American hemp farmer in over 50 years.
Other leaders scheduled to attend the symposium are Paul and Rick Collette of the "Collette Brothers," 4th generation paper producers with paper mills on standby to begin production of all types of paper and paper products made from hemp; Jesse Stanley, an oil maker for the Realm of Caring, will contribute his knowledge on CBD oil, Charlotte's Web cannabis strain, and Charlotte Figi and Epilepsy and children.
Adam Dunn, owner and founder of Hoodlamb (a hemp tailoring company established in 1993), is a clothing and apparel manufacturer. Dunn will also be representing T.H. Seeds, which is Amsterdam's finest cannabis seed bank and home of many infamous cannabis strains like The Hog, MK-Ultra and Bubblegum.
More in attendance include Jason Lauve, a well-known Hemp and Medical Cannabis activist for Colorado and founder of the Colorado Team Hemp House Project; Tripp Keber from Dixie Elixirs & Edibles; a representative from Enviro Textiles Glenwood Springs, Colorado; Samantha Walsh, representing Colorado's food workers Union and State Hemp Lobbyist; Chloe Villano of Cloverleaf Consulting.
Robert Takata, another well-known hemp activist, will be representing Jamen Shively, former Microsoft manager, who after the passage of Initiative 502 that legalized recreational marijuana, co-founded the company Diego Pellicer. Shively became the biggest local name in pot when he announced his plans to start a national chain of upscale retail stores. The campaign even featured an appearance from former Mexican president Vicente Fox. Shively was quoted saying, "Yes, we are Big Marijuana" of his company Diego Pellicer. Shively comes from a lineage of hemp activists. His grandfather was the largest hemp grower in Europe at the turn of the century. And Diego Pellicer brand is the first retail brand in the United States focused exclusively on legal, premium marijuana for pleasure and creative pursuits.
Takata will also be representing Ben Dronkers, founder of Hempflax, Inc. and Sensi Seeds. According to Dr. Lester Grinspoon, "The Sensi Seeds is the most comprehensive cannabis genetics bank in the world." Dronkers' Hempflax company has an astounding amount of hemp seeds worldwide. Hempflax focuses on the production and processing of sustainable resours, semi-finished products made from ecologically grown fibre hemp and flax. Ben Dronkers is working in association with Ryan Loflin to put the first hemp processing facility in the Springfield, Colorado area.
Others participants include extract experts, dispensary owners, and growers.
The United States is the number one importer of hemp but is one of the only countries that doesn't allow its own farmers to grow it. However, that's changing slowly, as states are beginning to support growing industrial hemp and are indeed putting pressure on Congress. According to Perlowin, CEO of Hemp, Inc. (OTC: HEMP) consumers are driving the legalization of industrial hemp with their demand for hemp-based products. "Politics are driven by economics... when economics change, the political realities change," says Perlowin.
The symposium is expected to form a strategic alliance amongst the industrial hemp industry, on an international scale. The hemp industry is more than just an industry... "It's a movement," says CEO Bruce Perlowin. And Hemp, Inc. is at the forefront of that movement. Not only has Hemp, Inc. produced a massive industrial hemp crop in China, the company has already received its first international shipment of hemp-made bags and gloves (currently in the process of clearing customs).
Moreover, Hemp, Inc.'s coop, Eco-Harmony Coop, (www.EcoHarmonyCoop.com) is a place where artisans and formulators have a platform to buy and sell their hemp and other sustainable and renewable wares. It's yet another way to bring products to the market. The coop also sells a stem cell blend with proven clinical studies being finalized.
