HemoCue Plays Role in Hospital Ebola Readiness Initiatives
BREA, Calif., Nov. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- HemoCue America, a leader in advanced point-of-care testing (POCT) systems, today announced delivery of HemoCue® White Blood Cell (WBC) Analyzers to a number of US hospitals. The WBC Analyzers are a part of emergency preparedness plans for handling of suspected Ebola patients.
Designed specifically for use in the determination of total white blood cell counts, the HemoCue® WBC System offers lab-accurate results at the point of care. "With the HemoCue® WBC System, a total white blood count can be obtained in just 3 minutes," said Josie Cunningham, Scientific Affairs Manager for HemoCue America. No calibration or instrument adjustment is required and the small device is portable for use in isolation areas where specimen contact must be restricted.
The WBC Analyzer is part of a broader point-of-care portfolio offered by HemoCue for use in physician offices and hospitals. "HemoCue America is pleased to be able to support the efforts of US hospitals, as they implement readiness processes to manage this deadly virus," said Josie Cunningham.
