Helping Hand for Relief and Development through SAMS sent $1 Million in Medical Supplies & Equipment for Syria
DETROIT, Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- "Help Syria Now" and "Save Syrian Lives" are campaigns of two dedicated Non-Government Organizations.
In 2012, Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD*) launched the "Help Syria Now" campaign to provide respite through food, water, shelter, medical, and in-kind gifts assistance to the people of Syria. Charity Navigator has awarded HHRD with a Top 10 Highly Rated Charity status.
"Save Syrian Lives" is the campaign of the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS**), providing integrated emergency healthcare network throughout Syria and for the Syrian refugees in Jordan, Turkey, and Lebanon. They treat the wounded onsite, provide emergency surgery and evacuate the injured to advanced care.
HHRD has joined SAMS through its In-Kind Gifts Program in early February 2013 to provide $1 million worth of life saving medical supplies and equipment. Five containers of medical goods from HHRD have already left and reached Turkey, and another will reach Turkey in late October 2013.
Dr. Zaher Sahloul, President of SAMS, has thanked HHRD for this timely assistance as the situation in Syria is taking a turn for the worse. He has expressed that this partnership will further collaborate to serve humanity in Syria.
HHRD has also sponsored the medical mission of Dr. Inam Hussain (Illinois) to serve inside Syria at various SAMS facilities.
In addition to these initiatives, HHRD has sent two containers of food, hygiene items & clothes to Jordan, which have been used by SAMS for their crucial psycho-support work of hundreds of Syrian Refugees living in Jordan.
