Help Heal Veterans to Reach More East Tennessee Veterans Through Partnership with Disabled American Veterans Bristol Chapter

WINCHESTER, Calif., Nov. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Help Heal Veterans (Heal Vets) is partnering with the Bristol Tennessee Chapter of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to distribute therapeutic craft kits to veterans in the Northeast Tennessee area. The craft kits will be used as therapy to help veterans suffering from mental and physical disabilities.

For more than 40 years, Heal Vets, a nonprofit organization founded during the Vietnam War, has supplied arts-and-crafts kits free of charge to injured servicemen and women and U.S. veterans. The kits often become a part of the patient's treatment plan, giving them a creative outlet for stress and boredom, and a way to rebuild their confidence and self-esteem as they complete art projects.

"I try to do puzzles to keep my mind from racing all the time," says veteran Jason Morgan of Johnson City, TN. Morgan suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, following multiple tours of duty in Iraq. "I'm still trying to deal with it today," says Morgan. "A lot of the issues come from friends' deaths over there and things of that nature."

DAV Chapter #39 in Bristol, Tennessee is a nonprofit charity that provides support to veterans of all generations and their families.  DAV Chapter 39 members and auxiliary are helping the Northeast Tennessee area veterans in positive, life-changing ways every day. The organization provides rides for veterans attending medical appointments, assists veterans with hundreds of benefit claims annually, and many other services/aid opportunities.
