LAS VEGAS, Feb. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Lovepop, creator of 3D pop-up greeting cards, announced today its charitable partnership with Miracle Flights, the national nonprofit that provides free commercial air travel to sick children who need access to life-changing medical care not available in their local communities.
During the month of March, Lovepop will donate a portion of proceeds from each of its 11 Lovepop Bear pop-up cards sold to Miracle Flights. After March, $1 from each Love Bear card sold through the end of 2019 will benefit the nonprofit's mission and help more sick children reach the care they need. The Lovepop Bear cards pay tribute to the teddy bear each child receives upon their first Miracle Flight.
"Partnering with Miracle Flights is a natural fit for Lovepop," says Wombi Rose, Lovepop co-founder and CEO. "As a company, Lovepop has a mission to create one billion magical moments, and Miracle Flights has been making miracles happen for critically ill children for more than three decades. This collaboration celebrates our shared mission to bring joy and inspiration into everyday life, especially for those who need it most."
Lovepop and Miracle Flights announce their partnership on Rare Disease Day, the international observance marked annually on the last day of February to raise awareness of the challenges faced by those battling rare medical conditions. According to Miracle Flights CEO Mark E. Brown, the day is one of significance for Miracle Flights, which provides approximately 600 free flights each month—more than 122,000 since its founding in 1985.
"Most of the patients we fly are children who suffer from medical conditions so rare, their local doctors can't treat them, so travel is necessary," says Brown. "But for many families already facing exorbitant medical bills, the cost of airfare is impossible. That's where Miracle Flights comes in. To have Lovepop join our efforts is an unbelievable honor and will certainly have a positive impact on the lives of sick kids around the country."
#MagicalMiracles Social Media Campaign
Throughout March, the #MagicalMiracles social media campaign will highlight a number of remarkable children flown by Miracle Flights, kicking off with video of 10-year-old Rosa Vaughan—a 20-time Miracle Flight recipient from San Diego born with a rare joint condition called arthrogryposis—who adorably gushes over an assortment of Lovepop Bear cards.
"Our goal is to showcase the inspiring stories of the children Miracle Flights has served and to celebrate the universality of the Lovepop experience," says Rose. "When you purchase a Lovepop Bear card, you not only create a magical moment for someone you love, you help make a miracle happen for a child who needs it."
