SAN FRANCISCO, May 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- HelloMD, a leading digital healthcare platform for medical marijuana patients, today announced the launch of Answers, a unique web-based service that allows cannabis users, or those considering using cannabis, to ask questions to the HelloMD expert community lead by doctors and physicians. Legal marijuana is the fastest growing industry in the United States. According to a new report compiled by researchers from The ArcView Group, a cannabis industry investment and research firm based in Oakland, CA, more than 1.5 million shoppers purchased legal marijuana from a dispensary, either medical or recreational, in 2014. This year, the industry is expected to grow by 25%, capping at around $7.1 Billion in sales. By 2020, the industry is expected to make a giant leap to $22.8 Billion.
This type of compounding growth in a relatively new industry brings with it many questions. According to HelloMD CEO and co-founder, Mark Hadfield, "We routinely receive high praise from our patients, but we also get consistent feedback that patients would like more time with our doctors." Hadfield continued, "Many feel that they have more questions than answers as they begin their journey into the world of medical cannabis. In response, we have launched HelloMD Answers which will allow any visitor to our site, patient or otherwise, to ask a question about medical cannabis, and in turn receive an answer from one of our qualified physicians."
HelloMD Answers is a free service and welcomes all visitors. HelloMD's physician community addresses questions based on availability, with relatively quick turn around.
HelloMD revealed Answers to a small subset of their membership community a couple of weeks ago, and has observed a wide range of questions asked, including:
- "Is it possible to die from taking too much Cannabis?"
- "Can smoking Cannabis improve concentration?"
- "Can Marijuana help with yeast infections?"
- "Can Cannabis help with my allergies?"
- "I'd like to know what other products you suggest for Crohn's and if cannabis suppositories are a good option?"
- "Can Cannabis improve my sex life?"
"Our HelloMD physicians have expressed a general desire to help anybody looking to learn more about cannabis and its medicinal uses and benefits," said Dr. Perry Solomon, Chief Medical Officer of HelloMD. "Through Answers they will be able to share their tremendous knowledge and experience, helping anybody, nationally or internationally, who may be seeking a professional opinion on medicinal marijuana."
While Answers is currently limited to responses provided by HelloMD physicians and pertaining to medical cannabis use, the platform will evolve to allow for much broader cannabis related topics, and for other industry experts to deliver their knowledge and experience to Answers users. Ultimately, users will be able to ask questions pertaining to all aspects of the cannabis industry, including legal, pharmaceutical, agricultural, business, recreational, events, and more.
