Helfer Achieves Board Certification In Medical Practice Management
DALLAS, March 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- David A. Helfer, FACHE, CMPE, President, Texas Institute for Surgery at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas has earned the professional designation of Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) by the American College of Medical Practice Executives, the certification entity of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).
The designation of CMPE demonstrates that Helfer has achieved board certification in medical practice management. Through industry-leading board certification and Fellowship programs, ACMPE certifies an individual's professional competence when they pass rigorous essay and objective examinations that assess knowledge of the broad scope of medical practice management skill sets as outlined in the Body of Knowledge for Medical Practice Management. These include business operations, financial management, human resource management, information management, organizational governance, patient care systems, quality management and risk management. The individual must also complete a presentation requirement and earn a minimum of 50 continuing education credit hours.
Today, MGMA membership is comprised of more than 6,600 individuals who have attained CMPE or ACMPE Fellow status or who seek certification.
David Helfer (Dave) is the President of Texas Institute for Surgery at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas Hospital, (TIS) an acute care entity jointly owned by several independent physicians and Texas Health Resources. Helfer holds both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees earned at National-Louis University, Evanston, IL and formerly held numerous clinical certifications and registrations. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has worked in healthcare for nearly thirty years as a clinician, manager, executive and consultant in small and large health systems throughout the US. Helfer is next year's President Elect of the Rotary Club of Dallas-Uptown and is currently serving as the Secretary.
