Hebert Named New AIR FORCE Magazine Editor in Chief
ARLINGTON, Va., April 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Air Force Association today announced that it has named Adam J. Hebert to be the next editor in chief of AIR FORCE Magazine, AFA's professional journal.
Hebert, currently an executive editor at AIR FORCE, will succeed Robert S. Dudney, who retires September 1, AFA officials said. Hebert will become editor in chief on that date.
"With Adam, we continue a tradition of outstanding leadership at our magazine," said Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Dunn, President and CEO of AFA and publisher of AIR FORCE Magazine. "He has the right experience to build on the excellent tradition of AFA's flagship publication."
Hebert, a native of Michigan, joined the magazine staff in 2002 as a senior editor. In 2007, he was promoted to his current position, in which he had day-to-day responsibility for planning, assigning, and editing most of AIR FORCE'S feature-length free-lance articles. He also played a key role on managing the magazine's finances.
Hebert has, in addition, regularly reported and written his own articles, and, in 2006, began writing the popular, front-of-the-magazine "Issue Brief" series.
Hebert becomes only the eighth editor in chief in the 68-year history of the journal of the Air Force Association.
AIR FORCE Magazine reports on Air Force, defense, and aerospace news, and publishes background material on US Air Force systems, personnel, programs, operations, and history. The annual Air Force Almanac is a respected source reference for the aerospace industry, the Air Force, Department of Defense, Congress, and the press.
As editor in chief, Hebert will oversee all aspects of magazine management and publication. He will also be associate publisher and director of publications for the Association.
Before coming to AFA, Hebert was an editor and writer with the respected trade publication, InsideDefense.com, and the Inside the Pentagon family of publications.
Hebert holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, in political science, from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and a Master of Arts degree, in public policy, from the University of Maryland (College Park). He lives in Columbia, Md., with his wife and three children.
