This year's survey focused on understanding how agents, brokers and consultants see the future of health benefits distribution through the new lens of reform. They were asked to weigh in on how health care reform will impact their business and how they plan to respond. More than 1,100 members of the health distribution channel responded to this year's survey, spanning the country and representing all employer size segments as well as the individual market.
"This survey is always a great gut check of the broker community when it comes to health care, and this year is no exception," said Denis Storey, Editor of Benefits Selling. "But it's never been more relevant or more revealing."
Highlights of the Health Care Survey include:
- Access to health care has taken over as the biggest issue facing U.S. health care, pushing out value and affordability from last year.
- Nearly half of all respondents said that reform will have a negative impact on their business.
- Agents and brokers see hard times coming for compensation, less than 15% believe compensation will hold steady or increase, which means 85% predict that compensation will decrease due to health care reform.
Results were featured in the May issue of Benefits Selling, and complete survey results are available online at BenefitsPro.com.
