Third Annual Event Supporting NYC's Homeless Mothers & Children To Be Held June 8 in Riverside Park
NEW YORK, May 22, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Hearts of Gold (http://www.heartsofgold.org), a not-for-profit organization that fosters sustainable change in lifestyle and levels of self-sufficiency for homeless mothers and their children, invites the community to participate in the organization's third annual "Kids Walk for Kids" Fundraiser.
The event will be held in New York City's Riverside Park on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the park's 83rd Street entrance. Check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m. Participants and teams can register by visiting https://heartsofgold.ejoinme.org/kidswalk2013.
Fundraisers and celebrity guests, along with moms and kids from the four shelters the organization supports, will walk along a two-mile path through the park. At the finish line, participants will celebrate with games, prizes and refreshments. Proceeds fund Hearts of Gold's children's programs at the organization's adopted shelters, which include providing school supplies and clothing, after-school activities, tutoring, meals, summer camp scholarships and day trips to cultural attractions.
"Our amazing walkers raised more than $60,000 last year. This year, you can make a difference! Register to walk with us, or donate to help improve the lives of New York City's homeless mothers and children," said Deborah Koenigsberger, Founder & Executive Director of Hearts of Gold.
Founded in 1996, Hearts of Gold has helped more than 12,000 homeless New York City mothers and children exit the city's shelters and thrive on their own. The organization supports more than 1,000 mothers and children in residence annually in four shelters operated by Nazareth Housing and Semiperm HDFC.
