AURORA, Ill., Dec. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Heartland Blood Centers, the leading supplier of donated blood to more than 70 Chicago-area hospitals, opens its doors to host the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Illinois (SCDAI) annual holiday celebration. "Heartland's commitment to the community goes beyond blood, we are committed to providing an increased quality of life for persons that suffer from chronic health conditions," said Michelle Robinson President of Heartland Blood Centers. Robinson previously serving as the chief operating officer was recently named president of Heartland.
Heartland in partnership with SCDAI launched Red is Life, a program to help the treatment of Sickle Cell patients, in April of 2016 to increase awareness, education and action in the greater Chicagoland area for Sickle Cell Disease. As the Holiday season is quickly approaching we need not forget about the children living with chronic health conditions such as sickle cell disease. Veldee, father of a 12 year old son living with sickle cell disease once said, "The person that has it is not the only one that has it; the entire family is affected by it."
Please consider giving back this Holiday season to support the families in need; by giving the gift of life through blood donation and donating toys. To learn more about the SCDAI holiday celebration and how you can get involved click here.
