Heartland Bank Surpasses Quarter of a Million to Local Charities in Central Ohio

GAHANNA, Ohio, Sept. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- G. Scott McComb, President & CEO of Heartland Bank, is proud to announce the 14th Annual Charity Golf Classic is officially sold out and slated for a full field. Heartland Bank will host its 14th Annual Charity Golf Classic on Monday, September 12, 2011, benefiting America's Promise -- The Alliance For Youth.  This year's beneficiaries are: Licking County Foundations for YES Clubhouse, Xempt Player Series for Youth Golf Professionals, Victory Ministries for Children's Outreach Programs, Special Olympics Ohio, and Masonic Learning Centers for Children with Dyslexia and Ohio 4-H Celebration of Youth. The Golf Classic has contributed over $249,000 to improving the lives of our local youth. The Heartland Charity Golf Classic is an 18-hole event played at the New Albany Country Club.

Licking County Foundations for YES Club (Youth Engaged in Service)

The YES program is a service-learning project funded by a grant from the Ohio Department of Education.  Due to the overwhelming number of participants and need for a safe haven for after school hours, YES moved to downtown Newark. The clubhouse currently serves 35-40 youth, ages 11-18 years of age, on a daily basis. Staff and adult volunteers provide mentoring, tutoring, life-skills and anger management classes, along with a daily meal.

Xempt Player Series for Youth Golf Professionals

The Xempt Player Series is open to men, women and seniors who have the passion and talent to play professional golf, but never had the opportunity to prove it. If you don't have the financial ability to play and stay on a professional tour, Xempt Player series could be the answer to your dreams.  

Victory Ministries for Children's Outreach Programs

Their Mission is to break poverty's cycle by addressing the physical, educational, emotional and spiritual needs of "economically disadvantaged" families in Central Ohio.

Special Olympics Ohio

Special Olympics, the world's largest program of athletic training and competition for individuals with mental retardation, will use its portion of the funds to help underwrite their expenses.  The program has grown to more than 1,000,000 athletes and 500,000 volunteers in more than 140 countries around the globe.  

Masonic Learning Centers for Children with Dyslexia

The Center offers free one-on-one tutoring to children with Dyslexia as well as free training for individuals who are interested in becoming a tutor for these children.  The positive impact of early intervention on the lives of these children and their families is enormous.

Ohio 4-H Celebration of Youth

Ohio 4-H Youth Development uniquely qualifies young people to step up to the challengers of our changing society.  Program areas the benefit include science and technology, health and safety, animal and agricultural areas, family and consumers sciences, person development, natural resources and global understanding.
