Heartland Bank Hosts the 2011 Fall Economic Update with Dr. Edmond J. Seifried, Chief Economist

GAHANNA, Ohio, Nov. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- G. Scott McComb, President and CEO of Heartland Bank, hosted the 2011 Fall Economic Update Webinar on November 14, 2011 presented by Heartland Investment Services.  The update featured economist Dr. Edmond Seifried, Co-Chairman of Seifried & Brew, and Professor Emeritus of Economics and Business at Lafayette College. Dr. Seifried has led the educational programs as Dean for the West Virginia Banking School and the Virginia School of Banking.  He has been on the faculty of many banking schools, including Stonier and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.

Dr. Seifried reviewed the U.S. Economic Report Card during the first 9 months of 2011. He discussed how Demographics Affects Housing Prices, Unemployment Rates, and Keys to Growth in 2012-13.  He also analyzed the results of the November 2011 Federal Reserve's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting which included Operation Twist and the continuation of low rates. Dr. Seifried concluded with this question, "Will the Twisted Yield Curve Work?" and what that will mean for the economy.
