Heart Failure Society of America Presents Lifetime Achievement Award, Nursing Leadership Award, and Clinical Excellence in Nursing Award
ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) presented 3 prestigious awards at the Plenary Session of the 20th Annual Scientific Meeting (meeting.hfsa.org) held at the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
Lifetime Achievement Award – Dr. Marc Allen Pfeffer, MD, PhD
The HFSA Lifetime Achievement Award is presented by the Board of Directors of the HFSA. The purpose of this award is to recognize a lifetime body of work by an individual who has made a significant and sustained contribution to the field of heart failure. This year the HFSA awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Marc Allen Pfeffer, Victor J. Dzau Professor of Medicine Harvard Medical School, Senior Physician at the Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Nursing Leadership Award – Lisa Rathman, MSN, CRNP, CCRN, CHFN
The Nursing Leadership Award recognizes an individual who improves the outcome of patients with heart failure through their achievement and excellence in nursing leadership. The awardee must meet a set criterion which focus on the quality and effectiveness of heart failure management programs, nursing practice, and patient outcomes. HFSA awarded the 2016 Nursing Leadership Award to Lisa Rathman, MSN, CRNP, CCRN, CHFN.
Clinical Excellence Award in Nursing Award – Peggy Kirkwood, RN, MSN, ACNPC, CHFN, AACC
The Clinical Excellence Award in Nursing recognizes the clinical excellence by a registered nurse who works directly with heart failure patients, their families, and other nurses. This individual must demonstrate excellence in patient care delivery, serve as a patient/family advocate, and mentor students, peers and other professionals in comprehensive management of heart failure patients. The 2016 Clinical Excellence Award in Nursing was presented to presented Peggy Kirkwood, RN, MSN, ACNPC, CHFN, AACC.
