LONDON, May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
This June, heads of militaries, government officials and industry representatives will be gathering in Cartagena, Colombia for OPV & Surface Combatants Latin America 2014 to discuss the region's maritime security concerns and solutions.
OPV & Surface Combatants Latin America, taking place between 30th June - 2nd July 2014, is officially supported by COTECMAR and the Colombian Navy and will examine topics intrinsic to the OPV and combat ship market such as shipbuilding capacity, systems design, damage control, program management and operational capability.

The conference location is ideal for these discussions as Latin America continues to be one of the more dynamic naval markets in the world with new OPV procurement projects emerging in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay and Mexico. These complement the large maintenance and upgrade requirements currently taking place within Brazil and Chile.
Colombia is right at the epicentre of this dynamism where, under the Colombian Navy's 'Orion Plan', 6 OPVs are being built by 2015. OPV & Surface Combatants Latin America this June will provide the opportunity to board these vessels in a special site visit organised by COTECMAR for all attendees to the conference.
