SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- HEALTHY SPOT (www.healthyspotonline.com), one of the Santa Monica's first certified green businesses, was recognized Friday, July 30th, 2010 by California's State Senate, awarded an Environmental Sustainability Award for their efforts as a leading retail provider of organic food, premium services and healthy lifestyles for their canine customers.  As one in only 12 award recipients per year personally endorsed by Senator Fran Pavley and selected in a district stretching from Santa Monica to Ventura with over 975,000 residents, the award is quite an accolade and reaffirms HEALTHY SPOT's position as a leader in "green" business practices.

In 2005, the City of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Sustainable Works and the Santa Monica Convention and Visitors Bureau teamed up to create the Green Business Certification Program.
