Healthstat Partners with City of Atlanta to Open Convenient Onsite Clinic For City Employees
Employee Health Clinic Expected to Improve Health, Offer Convenience, and Reduce City Costs
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Atlanta has opened a new, state-of-the art, 12,000 square foot employee wellness center offering health, fitness and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services all under one roof. The new facility gives city employees a powerful resource to achieve their personal health goals. It is an investment by the City of Atlanta in its employees' physical health, emotional health and financial well-being.
As part of Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed's 'A Healthier You' Initiative, the Atlanta Department of Human Resources Partnered with Healthstat and Kaiser Permanente, two of the country's most innovative workplace health promotion and wellness providers. Healthstat will coordinate with Morehouse Medical School and Grady Health System to provide physician leadership for the employees covered under Blue Cross Blue Shield and all other active employees. Kaiser will provide medical services for employees who have medical insurance with the Kaiser plan. The clinic will provide access to acute care, urgent care, health coaching and chronic condition management.
"The job of a public servant is an extremely challenging one. If we can help City of Atlanta employees receive more convenient access to care and achieve their personal health goals, we can create a more productive workforce – all while better managing the City's overall healthcare costs," said Healthstat CEO Crockett Dale. "Our goal is to change lives, and we're honored to play a role in the continued success of Mayor Reed's 'A Healthier You' initiative."
According to 36-month projections by EPIC Brokers and Consultants, the care provided in the clinic will allow the City of Atlanta to save $2 in healthcare claims costs for every $1 it invests in the program. These savings will come from the clinic's combined ability to reduce the rising cost of health benefit plans and improve city employees' productivity.
Having a health center located at work saves commute time and patient wait times are also shorter, averaging just five minutes. Altogether, this means city employees can maximize their access to quality healthcare while minimizing their time away from work. By focusing on patient health engagement, behavioral change coaching and preventive care, Healthstat and its clinical partners can help City of Atlanta employees get well, stay well, and work more effectively.
