HealthFitness taps former ActiveHealth executive for chief of analytics
Shnaiden brings 15 years of analytics acumen in health management
MINNEAPOLIS, April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- HealthFitness, a proven leader of population health management, announced today that Tatiana Shnaiden, MD, MS has joined the company as chief analytics officer, reporting directly to president and CEO Paul Lotharius. She most recently served as vice president of value optimization for ActiveHealth Management, a subsidiary of Aetna Inc.
Shnaiden comes to HealthFitness with more than 15 years' experience in health care analytics, building the team at ActiveHealth to serve product development and evaluation for health management and clinical decision support. She holds a master's degree in biostatistics from New York Medical College School of Public Health, and a medical degree from Russian State Medical University, Moscow.
Shnaiden's expertise will apply to ongoing efforts at HealthFitness to develop and refine new approaches for population health management products, including the Persona™ engagement model and BioVia™ product suite. She brings a mix of clinical, operational and financial capabilities to analytics that will enhance HealthFitness' focus on measuring the impact of its programs and engagement methodology to employer and health plan populations. Her work will also support the company's efforts to advance the science of population health management.
The science and analytics group is responsible for the foundational science supporting product development and improvement, as well as measuring and reporting outcomes of HealthFitness health management programs that serve one in five Fortune 100 firms and millions of employees.
"Tatiana's work is research-based and innovative in its approach—a perfect match for HealthFitness," said Paul Lotharius, HealthFitness president and chief executive officer. "HealthFitness partners with our clients in a consultative role in program design, implementation and management. Tatiana will be a valuable asset to our senior team, enabling us to enhance our client partnerships and our shared work to improve productivity and well-being."
Dennis Richling, MD, HealthFitness' chief medical and wellness officer, led the science and analytics team in the recent development of the patented Persona™ behavior model. With Shnaiden on board, Richling will focus on the clinical and behavioral research and development that supports HealthFitness' innovative approach to behavior change. That will include the ongoing journey to completely integrate Persona into HealthFitness' products, training and program deployment.
"Dennis's focus on research and further integration of the Persona behavior model, coupled with Tatiana's ability to define value for our clients using quantitative methodologies for analyzing and improving programs, is a powerful combination," Lotharius said. "Our clients will benefit from what this expert team will deliver, and we anticipate their work will demonstrate significant value for the science of health management," Lotharius said.
