Despite the sluggish economic recovery, the healthcare industry is adding new jobs due in large part to the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Last year's data showed an increased demand for healthcare employees as a result of increased access to preventative services under ACA and NPs and PAs becoming increasing important to healthcare teams. Health Information Technology positions are also on the rise as a critical component of health reform.

• In 2013, more than 7,042 employers posted a total of 175,721 available jobs on HEALTHeCAREERS Network.
• The top 10 states for healthcare jobs in 2013 as illustrated by HEALTHeCAREERS Network employer job postings were, in descending order: Texas, Florida, California, Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, Washington, Colorado, Illinois and Tennessee.
• Several healthcare areas experienced increases in the number of jobs posted in 2013 when compared to 2013. These included: dietetics/nutrition, physician/surgeon and administration/executive.
