HealthEC® Successfully Completes Final PQRS Submissions
PISCATAWAY, N.J., April 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- HealthEC®, a leading pioneer in population health management solutions, has announced that PQRS (Physician Quality Reporting System) submissions for NJ-HITEC (New Jersey Health Information Technology Extension Center), a Qualified Registry Vendor, were successfully completed. This is the third consecutive year of successful PQRS submissions for NJ-HITEC. PQRS is a reporting program that uses a combination of incentive payments and negative payment adjustments to promote the reporting of quality information by eligible professionals (EPs).
Powered by HealthEC®, NJ-HITEC was able to successfully complete PQRS submissions for approximately 3,000 providers accurately and on-time. This is significant to providers since participation in PQRS enables eligible professionals to avoid penalties and earn incentives on Physician Fee Schedule services that are provided to Medicare Part B Fee-for-Service (FFS) beneficiaries. In addition, participants gain the opportunity to better assess and enhance their quality of care.
Providers are able to report as individual Eligible Professionals, or can participate in the Group Practice Reporting option (GPRO). Among the providers utilizing NJ-HITEC, powered by HealthEC®, 1,462 providers are reporting on individual measures across all specialty areas, and 1,303 measure groups. Satisfactory reporting options are provided by CMS, including determining the measure criteria, how to pass validation, and possible validation adjustments. Starting in 2015, not reporting PQRS results in a penalty that reduces providers' reimbursements by 2%, while reporting leads to a quality-based adjustment ranging from -2% to +2%, which is disbursed with a 2-year delay.
According to Annacler Harris-Blevin, NJ-HITEC Manager of Healthcare Quality Initiatives: "Reporting accurate clinical quality data across all specialties with ease has always been our primary focus. Our collaboration with HealthEC® in developing a Member Portal has helped our team support providers using PQRS-related information and tools for quick and effective submissions for the incentive program. NJ-HITEC's unique knowledge and skills have established value on a nationwide level, expanding our clientele beyond New Jersey via both paper and electronic data sources. We are excited to continue to develop new capabilities and services as we enter our fourth year as a CMS Qualified Registry."
Dr. Sanjay Seth, Executive Vice President of HealthEC®, states: "HealthEC® has a long history of providing PQRS measures and quality reporting to ACOs, as well as to thousands of provider entities. Our PQRS reporting allows for customized reporting for any individual providers, or a group practice (GPRO) of any size. It also allows users to select measures or measure groups that work for their specific practice or specialty, enabling provider organizations to improve the quality of healthcare across a population, and obtain the monetary incentives they are entitled to."
