HealthCorps® President Michelle Bouchard Joins Theodent Advisory Board
NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Theodent™, maker of fluoride-free toothpastes, announced the appointment of Michelle Bouchard to the company's prestigious board of advisors. Bouchard is president of HealthCorps®, a 501 (C) 3 co-founded by Dr. Mehmet Oz, the world-renowned cardiac surgeon and two-time Daytime Emmy® Award-winning host of the three-time Daytime Emmy® Award-winning "The Dr. Oz Show," and his wife, Lisa Oz, to combat the childhood obesity crisis.
"World class research, technology, and patents attract world class talent," says Theodent™ President & CEO, Dr. Arman Sadeghpour. "Michelle is joining some of the world's biggest thought leaders in their respective fields. We have been fortunate to work with Dr. John Elstrott, current chairman of the board of Whole Foods Market, Mr. Peter Kellogg, current EVP and CFO of MERCK Pharmaceuticals, and Ms. Raina Penchansky, the former Vice President of global communications for Coach, who have all helped us in our marketing, business, and brand strategies for our revolutionary new line of non-fluoride based toothpastes."
Since the company's inception in 2007, Theodent has continued to implore the talents of a team whose expertise and experience are compatible with the company's mission of improved dental health through the use of a Rennou™, the toothpaste's patented, trademarked, and safe-to-swallow active ingredient. A recent article published in the prestigious journal, Caries Research reported that theobromine, a naturally occurring extract from chocolate contained in Rennou™, works better than fluoride in even lower concentrations to strengthen teeth and without the concerns of fluoride's toxicity. Dr. Sanford Miller, former head of the food bureau for the FDA, has also served on Theodent's advisory board and helped the company achieve GRAS status or "Generally Regarded As Safe" designation for theobromine, which the FDA's highest standard for food safety additives.
"As President of Healthcorps®, Ms Bouchard oversees more than 90 staff members and an operating budget of $8.6 million that impacts about 300,000 people across 13 states and Washington, DC. Her 20 years of experience will prove invaluable as we continue to license Rennou™ and grow Theodent's fluoride-free product lines," said Dr. Tetsuo Nakamoto, CSO for Theodent™.
In February, the company launched Theodent™ Kids, a new chocolate-flavored version that is gentler than Theodent™ Classic and its clinical counterpart Theodent™ 300. Theodent™ Kids retails for $9.99 and is available for sale on the company's website, and in select Whole Foods Markets nationwide.
Theodent is planning to release the results of an 80-person clinical trial at this year's American Dental Association national conference in the company's hometown of New Orleans. President William Clinton is this year's ADA keynote speaker.
