Healthcare Providers Receive 2014 IPRO Quality Awards
Awards Presented at 30th Annual Meeting
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., June 16, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Eight individual New York healthcare providers and groups of providers – including all 11 hospitals of New York City's Health and Hospitals Corporation, which worked to reduce hospital-acquired infections, and one group of 28 Capital District healthcare organizations that collaborated to improve transitions of care -- have been named recipients of the 2014 IPRO Quality Awards. The awards, given annually by IPRO, recognize organizations and professionals that demonstrate a commitment to improving the quality of care provided to New York's Medicare beneficiaries. IPRO is the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for New York State. The awards were given during IPRO's 30th Annual Meeting, June 3rd at the LaGuardia Marriott Hotel.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the annual meeting featured a keynote address by Farzad Mostashari, MD, MSc, Visiting Fellow, Brookings Institution Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform. Dr. Mostashari's work covers a range of topics related to helping clinicians improve care and patient health through health information technology, focusing on small practice transformation by developing innovative payment models that can better support these types of practices. He was previously the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
