Healthcare Providers Across the United States Choose GHX to Help Them Cut Costs and Increase Efficiencies
GHX announces five organizations will use its electronic trading exchange services and software solutions
LOUISVILLE, Colo., Oct. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Faced with multiple challenges related to healthcare reform and a weak economy, healthcare providers across the United States are using every means at their disposal, including technology, to drive greater cost savings and efficiencies. GHX recently signed five organizations seeking to automate and optimize their procurement processes.
As more hospitals connect to the GHX electronic trading exchange for e-business, the network continues to expand and now includes nearly 8,500 provider facilities, including acute and sub-acute facilities, conducting business via GHX and benefitting from GHX technology.
Among providers recently contracting with GHX for a range of connectivity and/or software solutions are:
- Jackson Health System, Miami, Fla.
- Wayne Memorial Hospital, Goldsboro, N.C.
- Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Monterey, Calif.
- Alaska Native Medical Center, Anchorage, Alaska
- Anne Arundel Health System, Annapolis, Md.
"These providers share our vision of the healthcare supply chain as an indispensable driver in reducing healthcare costs," said Derek Smith, executive vice president, Marketing and Product Management, for GHX. "In many industries, the supply chain represents a strategic asset that helps ensure business viability. In healthcare, the supply chain is another way hospitals can help ensure they're managing their businesses efficiently while continuing to provide high-quality care to their patients."
Using the GHX exchange and complementary software solutions, the healthcare organizations will be able to gain greater visibility into and control over their medical-surgical supply spending. Working collaboratively within the GHX ecosystem of suppliers, distributors and group purchasing organizations, healthcare providers are on track to reduce the cost of healthcare by $5 billion over a five-year period through a strategic initiative called "5-in-5." GHX is measuring the cost savings through a tool co-built with and validated by PRTM and has documented more than $1 billion in savings since January 2010.
