Healthcare Leader Announces $11.2 Million Success for Managed ACOs
Citra's Care Programs and Technology Generate Shared Savings for Two Accountable Care Organizations
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Final reports from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Shared Savings Program show that $11,232,701 of the $806 million dollars saved nationwide for 2014 was attributed to two Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) that are fully managed by Citra Health Solutions. American Health Alliance and ACO Health Partners, both clients of the Jacksonville-based company, were part of only 27% of ACOs nationwide receiving 2014 bonuses from CMS. Both ACOs are in the second year utilizing Citra's proprietary technology and services.
"We are very pleased with our relationship with Citra Health Solutions. While our doctors were very diligent, Citra continually focused on analyzing medical cost savings opportunities by combining claims and clinical data. Their commitment to improve both medical cost and quality at the patient level allowed us to prioritize the opportunities available," said Dr. Jay Panchal, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of American Health Alliance.
The report released by CMS last week shows ACO Health Partners' savings as $6,476,300 and American Health Alliance with $4,756,401 in savings for the 2014 year. Both ACOs exceeded quality requirements by over 80% and showed significant improvement with patient satisfaction thresholds.
"These results prove that with diligence and the necessary resources, ACOs are a great stepping stone to healthcare reform. We have been very fortunate to work with groups of dedicated physicians that see how critical technology and infrastructure can be in delivering superior support and clinical care to their patients," said Howard Buff, Chief Executive Officer of ACO Health Partners and Founder of Citra Health Solutions.
In addition to providing complete management services for ACOs from contract formation to patient care coordination, Citra is known as a market leader in value-based care through signature care programs such as Chronic Care Management and Transitional Care Management. CMS savings and quality scores reported for 2014 further highlight the company's commitment, ensuring that internal processes drive enhanced patient outcomes and showcase significant cost savings for providers. Beyond these important CMS measures, Citra has also shown improvements in venue appropriateness (primary care utilization increase of 68% coupled with a 25% decrease in emergency medicine venue utilization) and a 5% year over year increase in quality of care measures.
