CHICAGO and ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- GuideWell Innovation and Healthbox announced a new partnership today for 2016 building on their successful three-year relationship of conducting Accelerator Studios. The Florida Studio in Partnership with GuideWell Innovation will be held at the new GuideWell Innovation Center at Lake Nona.
GuideWell Innovation and Healthbox previously partnered to conduct Accelerator Studios in Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and Miami. Over the past three years, they have worked with 23 early stage companies that are addressing many of the challenges facing the health care industry today.
The 2016 strategy will focus on health analytics companies using artificial intelligence, machine learning, predictive modeling and other technologies to improve quality, increase access and reduce the cost of care. Areas of interest include patient/member engagement, care management, electronic medical records, enrollment and billing, telehealth, quality and risk measures, medical cost management and other related applications.
Over the course of the Studio, company founders will have the opportunity to do a complete analysis of their business model, value proposition and user experience. This will be followed by developing an effective go-to-market strategy and learning the nuances of selling into the health care provider and payer communities. Lastly, they will focus on the needs of scaling their business including building the right management team and fund raising. Entrepreneurs will receive access to a GuideWell mentor and other industry experts throughout the duration of the studio program.
The Studio will begin on May 16 and last for eight weeks. Interested companies may apply now online at healthbox.com. Applications will close on March 18.
Opening in March at Orlando's Lake Nona Medical City, the Guidewell Innovation Center will be anchored by the GuideWell Innovation CoRE (Collaborative Resources Ecosystem). The GuideWell Innovation CoRE is designed to become the epicenter of health innovation where entrepreneurs, research and development experts and health care's biggest players come together and collaborate to create, challenge and commercialize the next-generation solutions that will radically transform the health system into a more integral and useful part of people's everyday lives.
"Healthbox is pleased to be continuing its partnership with GuideWell Innovation," said George Gordon, executive director at Healthbox. "They represent a driving force in health care innovation. The new GuideWell Innovation Center in Lake Nona Medical City will be an ideal location for our partnership to conduct this and future Studios."
"We have enjoyed a strong partnership with Healthbox for more than three years that has resulted in the growth of 23 innovative health care startups and 61 new high tech jobs throughout the state of Florida," said Renee Finley, head of GuideWell Innovation. "Our new Guidewell Innovation Center is poised to play a key role in our goal of radically transforming health care through collaborative innovation to fast-track delivery of market-ready health solutions.
