WASHINGTON, Nov. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Karen Amato, R.N. just joined Lockton's Washington, DC employee benefits operation as the Director of Health Risk Solutions®. As part of the Health Risk Solutions team, she will help employers identify trends in chronic disease and high-cost claims, then develop customized programs to achieve measurable results.

Amato will work directly with employers and Lockton's account service teams on the development and implementation of health risk strategies. She will evaluate health promotion programs from various vendors, including health insurance carriers, third parties, occupational health providers, and employee assistance programs. She's an expert on worksite health risk programs and at identifying historical and emerging trends in the marketplace. "With experience direct from the medical field and as a corporate health and wellness leader, Karen adds immediate value to the assessment of health programs and benefits," says Murray.
Amato is a Registered Nurse with expertise in population health and integrated disability management. She was instrumental in leading the award-winning Wellwithin© team for SRA International and as such, was recently recognized as a 2014 Healthiest Employer by the Washington Business Journal.
Her experience spans more than 25 years in hospitals and corporate settings (both private and Federal contracting), including loss control programs to manage the impact of workers' compensation and disability claims. She also addressed the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions on this topic, "Stay-at-Work and Back-to-Work Strategies: Lessons from the Private Sector," in 2012.
Amato has experience leading corporate responsibility programs. Her passion for wellness creates work environments that address all aspects of individual well-being and productivity, including community well-being to transcend an employee's ability to improve his or her lifestyle.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is a Certified Case Manager and Certified Professional in Disability Management.
