Health Plan of Michigan is 2011 Pinnacle Award Winner
DETROIT, Sept. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Plan of Michigan has received two 2011 Pinnacle Awards from the Michigan Association of Health Plans. The Pinnacle Awards are given for "outstanding contributions to increasing efficiency and patient care, helping lower costs and increase service to Michigan residents."(1)
Health Plan of Michigan (HPM), the state's largest Medicaid HMO, won two of the four Medicaid awards:
Care Coordination for Foster Children
(Health Care Technology – Medicaid) and
Preventive Health Alerts – Patient Reminders at Each and Every Contact
(Business Operational Performance – Medicaid).
"We are so honored to have won these awards," said HPM Quality Management Director Vicki Boyle. "This truly reflects HPM's commitment to continuously improving our care quality, and our willingness to leverage all available technology in making that happen."
Health Plan of Michigan has won two previous Pinnacle Awards for its use of technology in health care: Technology and Case Management Go Together (2010) and The Right Call at the Right Time (2009).
HPM President and CEO David B. Cotton, MD noted, "The Pinnacle Awards are especially important, because they reflect peer recognition of best practices in Michigan. As the healthcare landscape continues to change, innovative practices will be key to maintaining quality healthcare in a low-resource environment."
