SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Gorilla, a leader in secure interoperability solutions, today announced the company is the first CommonWell Health Alliance® member to join the CommonWell Connector™ program, further expanding access to their interoperability network. This new collaboration, along with Health Gorilla's implementation of the Carequality Interoperability Framework, will allow Health Gorilla customers to connect with a broad ecosystem of exchange partners through a single onboarding process, minimizing the costs and technical resources needed to connect.
"The health care community has long been excited about the ability of CommonWell and Carequality to share patient data across providers nationwide," said Steve Yaskin, co-founder and CEO of Health Gorilla. "With this first-of-its-kind collaboration, we're excited to give health systems, EMRs, and health tech solutions an easier way to connect to this national network to improve patient care and engagement."
"We're thrilled to welcome Health Gorilla as the first committed CommonWell Connector™, providing vendors with a new option for connecting to the CommonWell network," said Jitin Asnaani, executive director of CommonWell Health Alliance. "Given Health Gorilla's nationwide and global reach, this collaboration is a tremendous asset to the CommonWell network and is an important step in empowering clinicians to help improve care coordination, outcomes and patient experience."
Health Gorilla will enable provider organizations and digital health vendors to exchange health data using FHIR transactions and leverage new solutions like advanced patient matching and identity verification. Providers can leverage Health Gorilla's Patient360™ to retrieve data for their patients from any clinical records system in the CommonWell network and Carequality Framework.
"I've been eager to access CommonWell and Carequality in the Health Gorilla platform to better coordinate care for my patients and more accurately understand their full medical history," said Shyamali Singhal, MD, medical director at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, Calif. "Being able to retrieve medical records for my patients from wherever they received care is absolutely critical to delivering a patient-centered experience."
Health Gorilla will begin implementing CommonWell services this summer with providers across the country including Puerto Rico, where the company's interoperability platform was selected by the Puerto Rico Primary Care Association Network to enable clinical interoperability across 20 federally qualified health centers. Through the CommonWell Connector program and Carequality Framework, Health Gorilla will enable patients, providers, digital health vendors on the island to share data securely, improving access to high quality healthcare.
