DENVER and JOHNS CREEK, Ga., Jan. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Health eCareers, the online career hub for the healthcare industry, announced this week its new partnership with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), the nation's only certifying organization for physician assistants (PAs).
The partnership will allow Health eCareers to post hundreds of PA-specific jobs on PA-C Career Center, directly connecting the more than 115,000 NCCPA-certified PAs with the healthcare employers who want to hire them. This single access point will also enable Certified PAs to upload a resume and sign up for job alerts. The career center will later expand to include valuable articles and tools created specifically to support PAs throughout their careers.
"This new connection between NCCPA and health care employers is an important component of our continued efforts to promote the relevance and visibility of our certification and recertification programs," said Dawn Morton-Rias, EdD, PA-C, NCCPA President/CEO.
"NCCPA supports PA careers by helping new graduates through successful initial certification and Certified PAs through the certification maintenance process. The PA-C Career Center is another way to facilitate career growth and transition. Our goal is to help Certified PAs get the recognition and opportunities they deserve to connect them with patients who need the high-quality healthcare they provide," Morton-Rias said.
NCCPA reaches more than 98 percent of the nation's PAs — essentially all PAs who are currently practicing in the U.S. Not only are all new PAs certified through NCCPA, but PAs must also maintain their certification through NCCPA during a 10-year certification maintenance process. This process includes five two-year cycles during which all certified PAs must log at least 100 CME credits on the NCCPA website and pass a recertification exam, keeping NCCPA in frequent and consistent contact with America's PAs.
"Over 53,000 PAs have already created profiles with Health eCareers, so we believe this is a perfect match to support our professional job seekers in their career journey," said Bryan Bassett, Health eCareers Managing Director.
"For over 40 years, NCCPA has facilitated PA careers through the PA-C and other credentials they confer. This partnership is an extension of that commitment to the PA career path," Bassett said.
All of Health eCareers' PA jobs will automatically appear on the PA-C Career Center at no additional cost to Health eCareers' clients. All proceeds NCCPA receives from career center postings will go toward a scholarship for PA students administered by the PA Foundation.
