Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. Becomes First Platform Partner of American Heart Association
RICHMOND, Va., June 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. (HDL, Inc.), a CAP accredited leader in health management, and The American Heart Association today signed a three-year partnership to work together to prevent cardiovascular diseases and improve cardiovascular health in the Richmond community, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and across the United States. This partnership is the first of its kind nationally, and rounds out the top-level sponsorships locally. HDL, Inc. will become the third of three sponsors for the Heart Walk, joining Anthem and HCA Virginia, and the Heart Ball, joining Bon Secours Richmond Health System and VCU Medical Center.
In addition to supporting the campaigns of the Richmond Go Red for Women Luncheon, the Richmond Heart Ball and the My Heart. My Life. Richmond Heart Walk, HDL, Inc. will lend its medical expertise to professional education events around The Guideline Advantage program and help to educate corporations and families on the importance of knowing their numbers through screening and advanced lipid testing as part of their Show Your Colors campaign.
"We are so excited about the possibilities for improving health nationwide through this unprecedented partnership with HDL, Inc.," said Jeremy Beauchamp, Executive Vice-President of the American Heart Association's Mid-Atlantic Affiliate. "Their support and expertise will allow AHA to expand our reach and our impact, and together, we will save more lives."
This first-of-its-kind collaboration began last year with the local "Show Your Colors" campaign, where Richmond executive women serving as volunteer leaders of the AHA's Go Red For Women campaign, participated in advanced testing at HDL, Inc. Their results spurred significant lifestyle change, and were captured on a video and a poster series shared at the Go Red Luncheon in February to encourage attendees to learn what their numbers are and take steps to prevent heart disease and other health issues.
"The impact we have already created together made this comprehensive, multi-year partnership with the AHA a natural fit for us," said Tonya Mallory, CEO of Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. "Health Diagnostic Laboratory is looking forward to marrying what we do best to improve health in Richmond and in communities nationwide."
