Health Care Workers Plan Rally outside Jefferson
- July 1 Contract Deadlines Loom, 1199C Members Rally
PHILADELPHIA, June 21, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Members of District 1199C of the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees - American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO plan a rally at noon, Saturday (June 23) outside Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Union President Henry Nicholas said, "The clock is ticking and no meaningful movement has been made."
District 1199C currently is engaged in contract negotiations with the following employers: Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Hahnemann University Hospital, Temple University Health Systems, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Hahnemann University Hospital /Sodexho, Hahnemann University /Crothall, Chestnut Hill Lodge Health and Rehabilitation Center, St. Monica Manor (Licensed Practical Nurses), Golden Living Center -Stenton, Golden Living Center-Landsdale; and in New Jersey: Vorhees Pediatric Facility, Genesis HealthCare - Cooper River, Genesis HealthCare - Burlington Woods, Genesis HealthCare - Kresson View.
Employers have been sent 10-day strike notices. Contracts are set to expire July 1.
