SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Annual Health 2.0 Fall Conference is famous for demonstrations of and lively sessions about the innovations shaping the healthcare landscape, but the conference also features unique twists rarely seen at health tech shows.
The agenda for the Fall Conference includes in-depth explorations of the roadblocks that exist for many patients, lively policy discussions and unique perspectives from healthcare's ultimate stakeholder—the patient.
The Unacceptables, on Tuesday, Oct. 3, features an in-depth discussion on how technology is tackling many of the most intractable roadblocks in healthcare.
Speakers for the Unacceptables include Michael Painter, from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation discussing why they're funding the TECHQuality program to encourage more diversity in the health tech space; Amy Sheon from Case Western Reserve University describing her work in tracing the impact of the social determinants of health on the digital divide; Robin Caruso from CareMore describing their efforts to combat loneliness; Skyler Place talking about how Cogito's mental health programs help predict and prevent suicide amongst veterans; and Jessica Ladd, Founder & CEO of Calisto, a non-profit that offers a secure, online, trauma-informed system to increase the chances that a rape survivor will report the crime.
The Fall Conference also includes several sessions featuring patients and patient advocates. On Sunday, Oct. 1, the Fall Conference will host Patients 2.0: Taking Back Control and Utilizing the Tools to Do It, which will bring together patients, advocates and caregivers to explore the health tech that will help patients take control of their health journey.
Also on Oct. 1, renown patient advocate Dave DeBronkart (i.e., e-Patient Dave) is headlining the Policy Town Hall on Access, Quality and the Patient Experience. He will be joined by consumer engagement expert Lygeia Ricciardi; Sarah Varney, Senior Correspondent for Kaiser Health News; HHS CTO Bruce Greenstein; Michael Millenson, President, Health Quality Advisors, LLC; and Jack Resneck, Jr., Chair-elect, Board of Trustees, American Medical Association.
In-depth policy discussions pepper the entire week of the Fall Conference, providing keen insights into how legislation and regulation will impact technology innovation and adoption.
Notable highlights include a conversation on politics and technology with current National Coordinator Don Rucker on Tuesday, Oct. 3; and dueling keynotes from former ONC Director David Brailer, former U.S. CTO Aneesh Chopra and HHS CTO Bruce Greenstein on Monday, Oct. 2.
More than 2,000 healthcare providers and payers, advocates, developers, investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers and advocates will take part in a four-day, action-packed agenda that includes 150+ healthcare technology demos in dozens of product categories; penetrating discussions on policy, innovation and technology integration with 100+ thought leaders; and sneak previews of the newest entrants to the healthcare marketplace.
"The latest innovations in health tech have been a pillar of the Fall Conference since its inception, but it's also important to understand how those solutions can help us resolve healthcare's most intractable problems," said Health 2.0 Co-Founder Indu Subaiya. "This is why we have deliberately curated opportunities for our attendees to hear the voice of the patient, better understand how policy will impact the continued evolution of the health system, and how we can reach populations who have been underserved or completely forgotten."
Registration is open for the 11th Annual Health 2.0 Fall Conference. Media interested in covering the conference can complete a press pass application.
Attendees or others interested in healthcare technology can join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter (#health2con), and LinkedIn.
