U-Haul, founded by World War II Navy veteran L.S. "Sam" Shoen and his wife Anna Mary Carty Shoen, designed and dedicated five vibrant military SuperGraphics to honor the five branches of the military — Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard, and to show our support for the men and women who have served and are still proudly serving in the armed services. During the parade, U-Haul will be featuring these commemorative SuperGraphic trucks, along with the United We Stand SuperGraphic and the Wounded Warrior Project – Soldier Ride SuperGraphic.U-Haul created the United We Stand SuperGraphic in honor of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and to pay tribute to the courageous rescuers who died trying to save them. The Wounded Warrior Project -- Soldier Ride SuperGraphic is dedicated to honoring and empowering the brave men and women who have been injured in conflicts around the world. These trucks will be proudly displayed during the 2012 Phoenix Veterans Day Parade.
U-Haul will be honoring veterans past and present by distributing flags and red, white and blue "Support Our Troops" ribbon magnets to spectators along the parade route.
"For the ninth year in a row, we are privileged to participate in and sponsor this year's Phoenix Veterans Day Parade," stated U-Haul Executive Vice President of Phoenix Operations Stuart Shoen. "Since 1945, U-Haul has relied heavily on hiring veterans to work for the U-Haul organization and our success as an organization is due to veterans being successful leaders and executives. Today, we continue to support our military personnel by providing veterans with a high priority in our recruiting process. U-Haul simply wants to give back to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for our freedom, and providing them with career opportunities is just one way for us to show our support."
U-Haul also is a sponsor of the Thank You for Serving video project headed by the United War Veterans Council. The project involves creating a video along with message boards displaying words of support, love and encouragement to be sent to every military base in the world. During the parade, U-Haul encourages participants and spectators to take the time to sign the Phoenix Thank You for Serving board and send messages of encouragement to those serving overseas. All of these messages will be sent to our troops, to let each of them know how much we appreciate their sacrifices on Veterans Day and every other day.
