Our employees around the country are regularly honored at their locations by patients, residents, family members and fellow employees for the care and caring they provide. 2018 Second-Quarter Champion Announced
"I am pleased to announce that our 2018 second-quarter HCR ManorCare Champion of Caring is Ruben Ganancial, LVN nurse supervisor at ManorCare Health Services in Walnut Creek, California," said David Parker, executive vice president and chief operating officer. "Ruben demonstrates day in and day out the qualities we strive for from all our employees in being helpful, caring and responsive to the needs of our patients and residents." In Ruben's 14 years with ManorCare – Walnut Creek, he has been a mentor, preceptor and a go-to person for the whole center team. Patients, physicians and families count on Ruben when they visit or call to get up-to-date information, describing him as conscientious, efficient, courteous and cheerful. Returning patients frequently request Ruben's unit in order to be in his care. Surveyors note his remarkable consistency and commitment. He leads by example, putting his team members first and always being quick to recognize coworkers' exceptional customer service. In turn, newer nurses have remarked on his responsiveness and contributions as a mentor.
Ruben was chosen from among finalists representing each of HCR ManorCare's six operating divisions. Each of the finalists had already distinguished her- or himself by being chosen a Divisional Champion of Caring from among thousands of employees. Divisional finalists not chosen as the national champion in the past three quarters joined six new divisional finalists in the selection pool for the 2018 second quarter. The five new finalists in addition to Ruben for the second quarter were:
