NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- HBO Latino, Home Box Office's dedicated Spanish-language premium channel, has announced its roster of high-quality original programming for the fall 2013 TV season, which kicks off during Hispanic Heritage Month with the arrival of a fan favorite and the launch of exciting new shows, films and programming stunts.

With the much anticipated return of Capadocia, the unveiling of a new sports comedy HDP, accompanied with a strong lineup of Estrenos Latinos and sports documentary series Destino Deporte, these programs will showcase the unique offerings of HBO Latino that are sure to excite the nation's bilingual Hispanic households. In addition, Hollywood's biggest blockbusters and HBO's award-winning and critically acclaimed originals, including the new season premiere of Boardwalk Empire, will be offered in Spanish.
Series and Films (exclusive to HBO Latino)
Capadocia, Season 3 – The stories of several women imprisoned for different crimes in an experimental penal complex in Mexico City, the third season of Capadocia focuses on the showdown between corruption and greed for power, embodied by the figures of two of the lead characters: Federico Marquez and Teresa Lagos. The third season of Capadocia is scheduled to premiere with two back-to-back episodes at 10 pm and 11 pm, September 27.
Destino Deporte, Season 2 – An international journalistic documentary series that goes beyond the scores and statistics to cover the unexplored side of sports, Destino Desporte features investigative news stories about the world of sports. Stories include the triumphs and tragedy of "lucha libre" in Mexico City, Brazil's preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games, the excessive competitiveness and persistent cases of drug use in sports, and the looming fear of retirement that is a reality for many athletes. Premieres on Sunday, October 6 at 1 pm.
HDP, Season 1 (Brazil) – This new comedy series follows the story of soccer referee Juarez Gomes da Silva and his dream to referee the final match of the World Cup. Despite a few professional triumphs, Gomes da Silva's personal life is a disaster. Abandoned by his wife and son, he must find some way to restore his marriage and get his life back on track. The 13-episode series provides an unprecedented look at a sports character that is so often misunderstood. Features guest appearances by soccer players and experts. HDP premieres on Friday, October 4 with two back-to-back episodes at 7 pm and 7:30 pm.
Estrenos Latinos (exclusive to HBO Latino)
Seventeen cutting-edge and critically acclaimed Spanish-language films from North America, Latin America, Spain and the Caribbean make their U.S. television debuts Friday nights at 8 pm/7c throughout the fall season. Encore Estrenos Latinos films will also be featured every weeknight. Films from the series premiering in September include:
Mariachi Gringo - The story of an American young man whose life has reached a dead end and who decides to venture to Mexico and become a mariachi singer, this movie about "following your dreams" crosses social and geographic barriers and stars up-and-comers Shawn Ashmore and Martha Higareda. Premieres September 13.
Mientras Duermes - The doorman of an apartment building, who believes he is incapable of being happy, watches and terrorizes residents while they sleep in this Spanish horror movie by acclaimed director Jaume Balaguero. Premieres September 20.
Elefante Blanco - In this suspense thriller from acclaimed director Pablo Trapero, in a shantytown in Buenos Aires, two priests and a social worker come together to face organized crime and repression, risking their lives to defend the people of the neighborhood. Starring Latin American movie star Ricardo Darín. Premieres September 27.
HBO Original Programming
The best of HBO's award-winning original programs are offered on HBO Latino in Spanish, including HBO series and films, documentaries, comedy, music, family shows and sports specials. Highlights include:
Boardwalk Empire, Season 4 – The Golden Globe® and Emmy®-winning hit HBO drama series returns with all-new episodes chronicling the life and times of Enoch "Nucky" Thompson (Steve Buscemi), Atlantic City's czar at a time when Prohibition proved to be a major catalyst in the rise of organized crime in America. Airs Fridays at 9 pm/8c.
Hollywood Blockbusters
