Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation Launches New Online Bookstore, Social Community; To Host Online Screening of 'The Anonymous People'
CENTER CITY, Minn., Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hazelden's Social Community (www.hazelden.org/social) and the newly redesigned Hazelden Bookstore (www.hazelden.org/bookstore), two enhanced features of Hazelden's online resource center (www.hazelden.org), will officially launch today with a lineup of grand opening events and sales, culminating on March 1 with a free online screening of the groundbreaking documentary The Anonymous People.
"The new Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is committed to making it easier for people to find help and interact with our life-saving and life-enhancing resources anytime, anywhere, throughout their lifetimes," said Nick Motu, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation's vice president of Publishing, Marketing and Communications.
"With the evolution of healthcare reform, there is a growing trend of consumers going online to research information related to a specific need or condition," added Mark Sheets, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation's executive regional director of Recovery Services. "The same is true in the area of addiction, and all of us with the newly-integrated Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation are prepared and excited to meet that need. We believe our robust offerings of online resources will be a valuable asset to all who seek lifelong recovery from the disease addiction."
The Hazelden Bookstore has long been the go-to place for world-class resources for behavioral health professionals, educators and people in recovery. In addition to the enhanced customer-focused design, relevant articles and informative videos, the new store also provides added functionality to enhance the shopping experience.
Hazelden's Social Community is a free online resource for anyone with a genuine interest in recovery from addiction, including those seeking recovery, maintaining recovery, working professionally in the field or supporting friends or loved ones in recovery. This unique community is home to daily recovery meetings, a lively discussion board, blogs by industry professionals, a book club with special offers and, most notably, a collection of supportive peers.
To celebrate the launch of these resources, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation has planned a lineup of grand opening events, including the free March 1 screening of The Anonymous People, which tells the story of the more than 23 million Americans living in long-term recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. Anyone from around the globe can view the film by joining Hazelden's Social Community. The film will be available for streaming any time throughout the day March 1. Also on that day, at 5 p.m. EST, the community will host a live online Q&A event with the film's director and some of its feature subjects, including author and recovery advocate William C. Moyers. In addition, The Anonymous People DVD will be available for purchase exclusively from the Hazelden Bookstore on March 1.
Other planned events include exclusive pricing on best-selling resources from the Hazelden Bookstore, starting today, and a Book Club discussion on Hazelden's Social Community about Recovery Now, the new accessible basic text written in today's language as a companion to the seminal books Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
