Hazelden and FCD Educational Services to Join Forces

CENTER CITY, Minn., June 24, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hazelden, the leading provider of addiction treatment services and educational materials for young people, and FCD Educational Services announced today they have signed a letter of intent to integrate FCD's programs and services with Hazelden.

FCD, which stands for Freedom from Chemical Dependency, is a top provider of alcohol, tobacco and drug education and prevention programs to schools throughout the United States and abroad. It will continue to operate out of its Newton, Mass., facility, and CEO Thomas Gee will stay in his current position.  He will report to Jim Steinhagen, the executive director of Hazelden's youth continuum.

Steinhagen also noted FCD's Newton, Mass. location and said "FCD's presence in New England will allow for the expanded delivery of services such as Hazelden screenings, assessments, therapy and educational services on-site for youth and their families." 

With this important new relationship and the addition last year of MyStudentBody, Hazelden's youth continuum will include proven-effective resources for students all the way from kindergarten through college and into young adulthood.  MyStudentBody has made it possible for Hazelden to help college students across the country live their best lives possible with a robust, evidence-based program that addresses the complex issues they face every day.  Hazelden's youth continuum also includes Tribeca Twelve, an alcohol and drug-free housing complex in New York City for college students in recovery. And an expansion currently underway at Hazelden in Plymouth, its residential treatment facility for youth, will enable Hazelden to treat more young people seeking sobriety.
