HOUSTON, Nov. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Global M&A Network has named Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Bill Nelson as the 2017 Americas Middle Market Deal Lawyer of the Year.
The honor was bestowed on Nelson at the organization's annual M&A Atlas Awards, which were celebrated Nov. 2 at the Intrepid Museum in New York City.
The Atlas Awards honor the best-value creating deals and the top performing dealmakers from the North and South American middle-market sectors. "Winning the award equates to achieving the 'Gold Standard of Performance' seal of endorsement, validating excellence and preeminent status in the local, regional or global markets," the Global M&A Network said in a release announcing the 2017 Atlas Award winners.
Nelson also took the lead in two deals that won 2017 Atlas Awards:
- KMG Chemicals, Inc.'s acquisition of Flowchem from Arsenal, which was named the USA M&A Deal of the Year in the $250 to $500 million category. The Haynes and Boone deal team included lawyers: John Menke, Simin Sun, Mary Mendoza, Sam Lichtman, Don Shiman and Jesse Gelsomini
- Callon Petroleum Company's purchase of $615 million of Permian Basin properties from American Resource Development, which was named the Oil & Gas Industry Deal of the Year. The Haynes and Boone deal team included lawyers: Buddy Clark, Kraig Grahmann, Matt Rountree, Kristina Trauger, Mary Mendoza, Sam Lichtman and Don Shiman.
