Hawaiian averaged a 93.4 percent on-time performance ranking for the full year 2012, earning the top ranking in 11 of the 12 months and exceeding the industry average for the year by 11.5 percentage points. For the month of December, Hawaiian recorded a 93.3 percent on-time performance to lead the industry.
Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and CEO, commented, "Hawaiian's consistency at being the nation's most reliable carrier year after year is the product of the passion our employees have for serving our customers well, every flight, day after day. They are the best in the business."
Hawaiian also had the industry's best overall results for fewest flight cancellations in 2012. With only 67 cancellations out of 74,109 total flights for the year, Hawaiian had a cancellation rate of less than one tenth of one percent. In December, Hawaiian ranked #1 for fewest cancellations with seven out of 6,071 total flights, or 0.1 percent.
In the category of oversales, or passengers denied boarding, which are reported quarterly, Hawaiian ranked third in 2012 for the lowest rate at 0.18 per 10,000 passengers, or 168 cases out of more than 9.4 million passengers.
Hawaiian provides daily nonstop service to Hawai'i from 11 gateway cities in North America – more cities than any other carrier – using Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 767-300 aircraft, making it the only carrier to offer wide-body, twin-aisle aircraft for all transpacific flights.
Hawai'i's largest and longest-serving carrier is also the leading provider of air service between the islands of Hawai'i.
